2019 Two Popes, Red Wine, Family Collection

The 2019 Two Popes is a compelling and distinctive blend of Cabernet Franc and Zinfandel. Ripe and decadent, this wine simmers with aromatics of plum, forest floor, dark chocolate, and vanilla. The palate is overflowing with flavors of strawberry, elderberry, and plums that are accented by notes of allspice and toasty oak. Everything is balanced by tangy acidity and gentle tannins. This powerful and concentrated red blend is already drinking marvelously, and it will be difficult to keep in the cellar!

Originally, we were not going to release another vintage of Two Popes but given how much our members loved it (we practically sold out in the first two weeks, what a coincidence!), we felt compelled to craft another vintage for you all to enjoy. With this vintage, the wine tasted best with a little more Zinfandel than in 2018, so this rendition includes 59% Cabernet Franc and 41% Zinfandel.

Trinitas Two Popes is a special blend celebrating something that hasn’t happened in over half a millennia – two living Bishops of Rome, the head of Catholic Church. Inspired by the Busch family, the blend refers to Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
 
The 2019 Two Popes is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Zinfandel. These varietals were used to create our Trinitas wines made in honor of each Pope’s respective elections – Cabernet FRANCis in 2013 and ratZINger, referring to Benedict’s birth name, in 2005. Trinitas founders Tim and Steph Busch have personally presented both Popes with their honorary wines. They look forward to sharing this latest homage to the Holy Fathers at an upcoming papal audience. Here’s hoping Pope Francis and Pope Benedict think Two Popes is divine!
