2011 Zinfandel Old Vine, Mendocino

The cool weather of the 2011 growing season allowed us to produce a Zinfandel that beautifully expresses the rugged northern landscape of Mendocino. It still has all the hallmarks of a Trinitas Zinfandel with great fruit and warming barrel spices, but in 2011 they are also accompanied by pronounced varietal and site driven savory notes. The bouquet opens with ripe wild berries, dried herbs, white peppercorn, red licorice, and baking spices. On the palate, this wine is totally integrated at this point, and flavors of strawberry, boysenberry, spice, herbal tea, damp earth, and vanilla glide along to a refreshing finished marked by lively acidity. The cool year really shines through, has kept this incredibly fresh, and adds a unique flavor profile to this fan favorite. It is a must try for our Zinfandel loyalists!
